Piconote is a free application that allows us to write and store all sorts of text notes. It differs from ordinary notepads in that it can synchronize our notes to make them accessible from the Web or mobile phone.

The program organizes notes in a tree-like easily browsable structure, where we can write texts of unlimited characters. The notes are stored in notebooks, which are basically files with the extension .DRY, which the program saves on our PC. We can create as many notebooks as we want or need, and specify whether we want to synchronize their contents with our account, or simply our work in offline mode. Creating an account on the site is a very straightforward process, in fact, it only requires us to introduce a nickname and a password.

Basic text editing functions, such as cut, copy and paste, undo/redo, and replace are available through the menu bar or the context menu. The program also includes a quick search function to look for specific words in our texts. Other options include importing/exporting .TXT files and inserting date and time into our notes.

It would be great if we could apply some text formatting to the notes, like colors or different fonts, as plain text notes look quite dull actually. But in spite of this ‘aesthetic limitation’, the program works fine and does its job.
In addition, its interface is available in English and Polish.
